Amber Joseph the commonwealth rider talks you through training for Etape Caledonia!

Amber Joseph is an aspiring track cyclist and ambassador at PedalSure. She is just back from the Commenwealth games where she

represented Barbados. PedalSure are the official partner cycling insurance partner of Etape Caledonia.  In her blog, she tells us

about her training up to the event, and more…

Last year …. I rode in my first Etape Caledonia in Scotland in Pitlochry in the most gorgeous place ever! The scenery was beautiful and climbs were worth the pain as the views were amazing looking over fields and lakes. I absolutely loved the route! It was also great to meet so many people that had so much passion for cycling and everyone was there to enjoy it which was great to see.

A normal week for me can have around 11 hours of training including gym and road rides and wattbike sessions, going to college and sometimes local races. I have just competed in the Commonwealth Games in Australia as the youngest female rider, I didn’t have much expectation other than to try my best and learn as much as I could. I competed in the points and scratch race, and I was pleased with my performances and the experience gained.

I will be going to the USA at the beginning of June for a huge block of quality training and racing with international riders from all over the world. This is in preparation of the Central American Games at the end of July held in Colombia, and then the Pan-American Track Championships at the end of August. I will be trying to collect UCI points to get myself to qualify for the Track Cycling World Cups during the winter. As I competed in the 6-Days last year I hope to get selected again for the next 6-Days series this year.

I am so excited to be doing another great sportive for PedalSure as I love doing events with them as an ambassador. I will be also competing in the London half duathlon mid-September also racing for PedalSure which will be very interesting as the last time I ran anywhere was when I was 15! I have a very big year ahead and I am so thankful to have PedalSure covering me and my bikes where ever I go. You can claim your Etape Caledonia discount at

Please do come and say hello to me at the PedalSure Gazebo in the event village. It will be really nice to exchange some cycling tips & stories.
